The Gargoyle

The Gargoyle  by Andrew Davidson

★★★ 1/2 stars

Emotionally charged and raw, this was a difficult book to read, and even more so to put down.

Once you get past all the pretext, and the graphic descriptions of main character and his life before the car accident that left him severely burned (he was a drug addicted porn star), it is a compelling love story. I enjoyed the book for that reason, slowly getting to know the characters through their past, in 1300 AD no less. The last half of the book was my favorite. I love the whole redemption through love theme, and following our main character (he never had a name...) through his own personal Hell, to come out on the other side a whole, and clean.

Despite all the things I didn't like about it, in the end it was a good read.
