★★★★ (out of 5 stars)
Set in a sleepy little mining town, this story follows Anna as she watches her family, friends, and neighbors suffer the ravages of the Plague. Part fact and part fiction, I found the story to be gut wrenching and moving. Even though it was so sad, I thought it was a beautiful story, and at times quite courageous.
I loved Anna's character, not only was she fighting through the sadness and suffering around her, but she also was becoming more herself everyday.
Lovely story, looking forward to trying another one of Geraldine Brooks books.
