That's Some Pig

Our neighbors got a pet pig a few weeks ago. She is a Pot Belly pig, and quite a little stinker. Clark loves her to death. Every time we go outside he runs down the stairs to see her (in fact...that is how he got his first serious injury, falling down the stairs). He loves to try and pet her, but Bootsie only gets close enough to see if he has food then runs away. Clark loves to throw things in her cage to make her squeal. He is even learning how to speak piggy, and tries to snort at her all the time. We are not sure how long she is going to be here, she belongs to a family on the Big Island, but it is sure fun for the little while she is here.

I just want to tell you how much I love and miss you. I love having you in my life, and I am so glad that we have been able to have as much time together as we've had. I love to sharing our passion of reading, and exchanging books. I am always excited to try and read books that you have recommended, and I loved it so much when you read the Harry Potter books! I love that whenever I have a problem I can come to you, and you try to find some solution to help. I love your teasing sense of humor, and listening to the stories you tell.
It was so fun to share Hawaii with you last year, especially during your birthday. And I loved bringing Clark out to New Mexico last year, and showing Gramps and Granny's house. I have had some of my favorite memories there...
I tired to squeeze the baby out today, so he could share his birthday with you....but he did not really cooperate. So we will just have to settle sharing names, I know he will be proud to have his (middle) name be William.


This is one of my favorite pictures of you...I couldn't stop laughing when I got it in my email. Maybe this Halloween I can get you a wand to complete the costume (or I will let you just borrow mine). Thank you for all you do, for being the best Grandpa ever! Happy Birthday!

Okay...I admit it we were teasing him a little, okay a lot. But if you are going to survive in the Bosko/Deimler family you have to learn to take a little teasing. He was finishing up on dinner, and was waiting for a cookie...but I thought it would be funnier to give him some olives instead. Every time Jason put them on his plate he started to cry (okay...we are really mean, I am not going to tell you how many times we did this before I started recording him). He will eat most things...books, paper, cat food, and even old moldy cheese (I don't feed him this willingly, he hides food to eat it later)...but heaven forbid he tries an olive.

Dracula by Bram Stoker

I am not entirely sure why I wanted to read this book, but I am glad I did. I got it as a gift for my birthday (thanks Laura) and maybe I was still on a vampire high from finishing up the Twilight series. It just seemed interesting.

I had never really saw any of the Dracula movies, or knew much about the book. So, I did not really know what to expect. Although a few years ago I did read this book called The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. It had a lot to do with Dracula and the myths behind the legend. It was a really good book, although a little long. I found the book (Dracula) really interesting. I liked that it was written from multiple points of views, through letters and journal entries. It made the story a little unsettling, which added to the spookiness. I did not really think it was scary, but it did make me a little nervous....and oddly enough I had a lot of weird vampire dreams. I loved the Van Helsing character, he was so passionate in his work, I loved to read his part of the story. The only annoying thing was the female characters. I am not sure if it was the author, or just the era....but I found them to be so needy and whiny. Over all it was a good read, and made me want to explore some other "classic literature"....that I have always avoided reading until now. I haven't decided what I am going to read next...time for a Borders trip I think.

Has anyone ever seen the Dracula movies? I wanted to watch them, but heard they were really gross and didn't really stay with the idea of the book.

10 Things

I was tagged by my cousin Becca! And since I have no life, and nothing to blog about (and no one wants to listen to me complain) I will graciously play along. All I have to do is write a blog with 10 weird, random, facts, habits or goals about myself. Sounds easy, but I am sure it is gonna take all day. Here we go...
1. I love the Reelz Channel. It is pretty much the only thing I watch all day, unless Clark is watching cartoons or there is a show I have recorded on my dvr (which come the fall will be stock full of my favorite shows!!!). It's all about movies all day long. It helps with the with-drawls of not being able to go out to the movies as much as I used to.
2. I love to chew ice. I probably go through 5-8 cups of ice a day. It helps to reduce my snacking, and cools me down in the miserable summer heat/humidity. The cutest thing is Clark is now addicted. He will sneak his grubby dirty hands into anyones drink now looking for ice. I know it is not good for his (or my teeth) but I guess it is better than candy.
3. As much as I love to read, I hate going to the library. It think it smells, and the chairs are never comfortable. And it is really hard for me to check out books thinking of all the people who checked them out before me...do they eat while they read, go to the bathroom with their books, let their dog slobber on the pages...ew! I would rather just buy my books.
4. You would never know by looking at me....but it is my dream to run a marathon. I don't have to win, or even get a good time. I just want to run the whole 26 miles. The problem is I can't even run for 10 minutes without needing my inhaler and almost passing out. Someday....
5. I always say my favorite color is red, but it is really pink.
6. I am a collector. It is a dangerous and spendy habit. Most of the stuff I collect is useless junk (I am the proud owner for 12 Monopoly games!?) but it doesn't stop me.
7. I hate the summer! Which is ironic cause I live in Hawaii (and I do love Hawaii), and it is summer almost everyday. But I hate the heat, I hate wearing shorts, I hate to sweat, and nothing is good about summer except my birthday and the 4th of July. If it wasn't for the beach, or swimming, I am sure I would just lock myself indoors in front of the air conditioner until it was over....but then I also hate swim suits.
8. I hate to floss, and I only do it like once a week. Gross I know, all my teeth are probably gonna fall out....but I just don't like to do it. I also loath going to the dentist.
9. I love watching Iron Chef America...and it is my dream that they would invite me to be a guest judge.
10. And I am gonna get a lot of hate mail for this one...but I don't really like dogs. They are cute (when they belong to other people and don't poop in my yard) and I am sure they make great pets...but I am just a cat person. Maybe if I could find a dog that did not stink, was small, and let itself out to the bathroom without bothering me...maybe then I would like it. I have only met a few good pooches in my life, they are just too hard to come by.

18 Months Old

My favorite things about Clark this month;

1. He has finally gained appreciation for the comic genius that is Spongebob Squarepants! He has always watched it before, between his breaks in Sesame Street, but he never really cared too much for it. But lately he laughs the whole time, he loves it when Spongebob and Patrick laugh and make weird noises. He gets really excited when it comes on, and runs to his little couch to watch. My little boy is growing up, and loves Spongebob...I couldn't be happier.

2. He can blow kisses now, and it melts your heart every time!

3. I love how much he is trying to talk. He walks around the house jabbering to me, all the while thinking that I actually understand what he is saying. Once we even spied him talking to himself while he was playing in his bedroom. I can't wait to finally understand him!

4. He has Olympic fever, and it is contagious! I don't watch the Olympics too much, only cause I get so mad when I don't think the judges are being fair and scoring the way I want them to, but Clark enthusiasm for it makes me want to watch it more. He claps and cheers when the audience does, he dances to the national anthems (we have been trying to get a video of this), and loves loves loves the women gymnastics. We were watching the women's gymnastic floor exercises the other night, and he could not stop laughing and giggling at every flip and spin they did. He can be so easy to please sometimes, still that happy little baby we brought home from the hospital months ago.

5. This has only been happening since Laura went back home....but he has been sleeping through the night!!! And when he wakes up in the morning, instead of crying I just hear him jumping on his bed...it is the best way to wake up.

Clark is such a little treasure. He brings so much joy into our home, and keeps us going when the going gets tough. He reminds me that life isn't all about doing dishes and laundry, and his enthusiasm for the little things (like going for a ride in the car, candy and chasing cats) is a constant reminder of those things that are really important in life. I don't know what I would do without you Little Tuna...and I just can't wait for you to meet your little brother.


Can you believe how much he has gorwn and changed...I am so glad he finally has some hair!

My Trip to Kauai

Last week my sister Laura, her friend Emily, and my friend Carol went to Kauai to finish celebrating my birthday. It was so nice to have a vacation with just the girls...no boys, babies, or cleaning. Kauai was beautiful!! I think my favorite island so far. It had a lot of horse and cow farms, beautiful fields and mountains, and beaches. Most of the island had the small town, country feel that I love. NO traffic, no big cities, not a lot of people...it was perfect. My one and only complaint is that the beaches all seemed pretty rough, not good for snorkeling or a lot of swimming...but that also just could of been the weekend that we were there.

We did a lot of sight seeing, driving back and forth across the island. I did not get to do anything too adventurous, cause of the little baby growing inside me (I really wanted to swim with the sharks, or do some cliff jumping) but Laura and Emily did a little for me...they jumped off Kipu Falls all 20 feet of it...it looked pretty scary to me! We got to sleep in and eat out breakfast every morning....mmmm bacon (that alone would've made the whole trip for me). We took our time doing whatever we wanted...no schedules or planning. My favorite part was the air conditioning in our hotel room, I slept like a baby. Ahhh...I really miss the central air!

I just want to say thanks to my friends and sister for a perfect weekend, and for coming along on this trip with me. I had tons of fun, and it was a great way to spend my last weekend with my sister.

Breaking Dawn

4 books in 4 days! I think I broke my record...and I did not even neglect Clark that much (he just got to watch A LOT of tv). Saturday, Laura and I went to the mall to get the final book in Stephanie Meyer's Vampire/love series. We were supposed to go to the midnight release party...but I was too sleepy. Being the gracious sister I am, I let her read it first...so I could re-read the first 3 books. By Monday afternoon I had finished the first three books (Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse) and Laura still wasn't done with the Breaking Dawn...so I made Jason go and get me another copy. I simply could not wait!

I could not put it down. I loved it! I think my favorite in the entire series. It made me laugh (Jacob's chapter titles were so funny), it made me cry...and it tied up everything for me in a pretty pink little bow. I was shocked at where Steph decided to go with the story...I had no clue, I wouldn't have even been able to guess. I don't know if it is all the crazy pregnancy hormones...but I desperately wanted a happy ending, and I got everything I wanted, I am satisfied. The ending was a little anti-climantic, but good for me. Page turning, vampire loving goodness...

The Poisonwood Bible

I really enjoyed this book. It was the first book I have ever read read by Barbara Kingsolver, even though several of her books have been on my "To Read" list for years. I am not sure why I choose it, it was an impulse buy at Borders...but I did enjoy every second of it.

The story is told through 5 different point of views. Not as confusing as it sounds...

The Price family is off to Africa, to be missionaries in the Congo. Lead by an abusive and hateful father who can't stop living in his past...so in turn he tortures his family to make up for it. The bulk of the story is told by his four daughters, snotty Rachel, my heroine Leah, Adah the genius, and innocent Ruth May. I loved reading the different point of views, and getting a sneak peak in to the story a little at a time. The Mom also adds her say every now and then, sort of as an after thought to defend herself and her actions. The story is beautifully told, and I really felt like I was there suffering along with the Price family the whole time. One thing I also really enjoyed about the story, is that she took us through the majority of the girls life. Instead of finishing it after a dramatic moment, we got to grow up with them as well...I felt like I got a lot of closer from the story. I loved reading about Africa, and getting to know the country. Thrilling, thoughtful, sad at times, and hopeful, the book is a good read. I wasn't disappointed...

Happy Birthday Emma!!

Happy Birthday Emma! We love and miss you so much. Clark hates that he can't hang out with you everyday, and play with your puppies. Today, in honor or your birthday we went to the mall and ate at Moe's. We also watched Madagascar 3 times (that was Clark's idea), we all took a nice nap, and me and Laura are going to make brownies...all in honor of your big day.
I am so thankful I have you as a sister and my best friend. I do not know what I would do without you (and Laura). You make me laugh with your snarky sense of humor, and you always give me a different perspective on things. I love that we both think the perfect day would included at least 6 hours of tv watching, some reading and the beach. I love sharing all our little obsessions together...Friends, Harry Potter, and all things musicals. I know that you get me and love me anyway. Thanks so much for everything you have done for me and my little family.
It has been so hard living away from you (and the rest of the family). I hate that I am missing Fat Emma and helping you get ready for baby stuff. We are all just missing you on your birthday, and hoping next year you can come out and we can celebrate together (we are planning for the Big Island next year...so start saving).

I am only a little selfish...

Jason has been away in Guam (for work) for the past week. And while Clark and I miss him...I have to say the break has been nice.
Clark is a total Daddy's boy. If he had to to choose between me and Jason, he would choose Jason EVERY time. I am like a huge steaming pile of cow crap next to Jay.
So, with Jason being gone I have been getting a lot of attention. It is so nice! Cuddling during tv time, wrestling matches, telling me his "stories", he even shared his fruit snacks with me on more than one occasion. It is so fun that he wants to play with me now, and sit by me, and let me comfort him when he is upset. He has started this new thing where he likes to hold hands...it is precious. He even listens to me better, respects me more (way less tantrums!!!) and goes to bed without crying for hours. I feel more like a Mom, than just the slave and food maker.
Jason comes home in a couple days. It will be nice to not be treated like a jungle gym all day long...but I am gonna miss my little Tuna.

Happy Birthday to ME!

Sunday was my birthday...I turned 28! I had such a fun birthday weekend (Thank you Jason and Laura). On Saturday, I got to go out to dinner alone with Jay (and all I ordered was appetizers for dinner, yay!) and to a movie. I also spent entirely too much money getting my hair done (which is a super special treat since I normally only do it when I go home...oh Sabrina I miss ya!) On Sunday we went to Waikiki for the afternoon, and for a tasty lunch at Outback. Lunch was delicious, and I ate, and ate, and then ate a little more ;)

This was our attempt at a family picture...Clark would have nothing to do with it, all he wanted was to see the Koi pond.Here I am, all 28 years old and fat and pregnant. I was hoping the size of the flower would detract from how round and puffy my face is...HA!
Blowing out my birthday candle. I forgot to get some candles at the store, so we had to use one of those tea light candles...whatever works right. Clark was sitting across from me helping me blow it out...that is what we should of gotten a picture of, it was so cute. Jay got me the tastiest ice cream cake from Coldstone...hmmm yummy.
There are hardly ever any pictures of me and Clark...so I thought I could use some birthday magic and try. This one was semi-successful, but no smiling on his part...he was more interested in the birthday cake Daddy was cutting.
Playing my new pretty pink Nintendo DS that Jay got me for my birthday. I have been wanting one for a while, so I was super excited!

I just want to say thanks to my family and friends who made my birthday special. I love my family so much, and I was so happy I got to talk with a lot of you. In just a couple weeks I will be going to Kauai with Laura and my friend Carol to finish celebrating my birthday...I like to drag it out as long as possible...so stayed to for Birthday part 2!
